1Die Wörter

New words from today's lesson. Hide the English and test yourself.

2Neu: das Perfekt

With the Perfekt you talk about the past, for example what you did today or last week. Ich habe gearbeitet = I worked / I have worked. German uses one form for both.

haben+ gemacht
haben + Partizip am Ende
ichhabe … gemacht
duhast … gemacht
er / sie / eshat … gemacht
wirhaben … gemacht
ihrhabt … gemacht
sie / Siehaben … gemacht

The recipe: take the verb, cut off -en, put ge- in front and -t at the end.
spielen → spiel → gespielt

haben changes, the Partizip never changes: ich habe gespielt, er hat gespielt, wir haben gespielt.

  • machengemacht
  • spielengespielt
  • kaufengekauft
  • kochengekocht
  • lernengelernt
  • hörengehört
  • sagengesagt
  • wohnengewohnt
  • arbeitengearbeitet

Ende · Partizipgemacht.

Same idea as können, müssen, wollen: haben stands on position 2, the Partizip goes to the very end.
